Thoracoscopy

Thoracoscopy is a procedure in which a thin viewing tube (called thoracoscope) is inserted through a small incision in the chest. It is used to visualize the pleura, lungs or mediastinum for any abnormality and to take appropriate biopsy samples from the parietal pleura. The most common indication of thoracoscopy is undiagnosed pleural effusion.
